Working in Saudi is still a thrilling adventure: the visa processes are highly complicated, the strict adherence to Islam can be seen as a discourage to some, and finally the heat in the summer time can becoming unbearable. 

Nevertheless, for those who are not deterred by these factors, the Kingdom offers a wide variety of positive impressions from a cultural and also from a leisure perspective. I always enjoy my travels there, because once in the country, there are quite a number of hidden jewels to be detected! 

As an intercultural trainer for the Arab World and Saudi Arabia, I prepare international managers, leaders and experts for the manifold challenges in the KSA. My own experience as a project manager is the basis for my knowledge , giving me a deep understanding of local customs and an authentic insight into daily business practices.

As part of my professional activity as trainer and consultant, I prepare experts and managers as well as their families for the intercultural challenges of living and working in Saudi Arabia.  Es hat alles mit einem ganz kleinen Beitrag am 13. Februar 2007 angefangen – und nun, vier Jahre und genau einem Monat später, habe ich die stolze Summe von 20.000 Besuchern mit 33.000 Seitenaufrufen auf meinem Weblog erreicht. Danke an alle, die sich von meinen Fotos, Texten und Links inspirieren ließen!!! :-)

Die genau 162 Beiträge, die ich über die Jahre in Deutsch und Englisch gebloggt habe, beschäftigten sich mit genau den Themen, die ich beruflich und persönlich spannend finde: Reisen, fremde Länder, Beratung, Training, Vorträge, Sprachen, Interkulturalität, Ethik, Lebenserfahrungen, Tourismus, Management. Und so wird es auch weitergehen!  

Für Kommentare und Anregungen bin ich weiter offen und freue mich auf viele spannende Themen, die ich meinen durchschnittlich 40 Besuchern täglich bieten kann.

In my work as an intercultural trainer for managers and executives, I come across a wide range of opinions about the developments in the Arabian Gulf states, and especially Dubai. 

While some people are sceptical about the sustainability of the projects, most people appreciate the efforts and successes of the last four decades, in which the Emirates turned from small fishing communities into global business and holiday hubs: "from rags to riches", as is one of the credos of Abu Dhabi.

Far away from the glittering skyscrapers, the capital of the United Arab Emirates has realised a truly fascinating and mesmerising building: the Sheikh Zayed Mosque, named after the late founder of the UAE. 

The building is open to the public (during non-prayer times) – and I had the pleasure of visiting this architectonic marble. Here are some impressions:

Interkulturelle Impressionen

Das Königreich Saudi-Arabien ist immer noch etwas Besonderes: Es gibt kein Touristen-Visum, also ist es für Besucher kaum möglich, in das Land zu kommen – lediglich Geschäftsreisenden und Pilgern bieten sich realistische Chancen. 

Dabei hat Saudi viel zu bieten: Zentrum der Muslime, die größte Sandwüste der Welt, den zweithöchsten Turm auf der Erde sowie eine durchgemischte Gesellschaft mit rund 20 Millionen Einheimischen und 10 Millionen Gastarbeitern. 

Als interkultureller Trainer für Saudi-Arabien bereite ich Manager, Führungskräfte und Experten auf die Herausforderungen im Königreich vor. Meine eigenen Erfahrungen im Projektmanagement vor Ort spielen dabei eine wesentliche Rolle – mit all seinen spannenden Facetten in und neben der Arbeit!

Dass Saudi-Arabien gerade aus interkultureller Sicht eine Fundgrube ist, zeigen auch die von mir gemachten Bilder und Impressionen – viel Spaß damit!

Im Rahmen meiner Trainer- und Beratertätigkeit bereite ich Fach- und Führungskräfte sowie deren Familien auf die interkulturellen Herausforderungen bei der Entsendung nach Saudi-Arabien vor. Intercultural Training: Doha / Qatar

The Museum of Islamic Art

A Unique World-Class Attraction

As intercultural trainer for the Arab World, I am always in search of new and exotic projects and undertakings throughout the Middle East. 

The capital of the State of Qatar, Doha, has been a special place ever since I visited for the first time in 2001. And what a place it had become, how much has changed in such a comparably short period of time!

However, the most iconic building of Doha does not need height, as it is a true gem of its own: the Museum of Islamic Art, built by the Chinese-American architect I. M. Pei. The position in the corniche of Doha, on a single island, already makes it unique. But what has stunned particularly was the unparalleled design of the building in combination with the collection, the views and the athmosphere.
